J’s for Grades: Celebrating Academic Progress and Student Acheivement
J's for Grades is an exciting new program designed to celebrate and reward students in Prince George’s County who demonstrate remarkable academic growth. Each month, one school in the district will participate in this initiative, with the school principal collaborating with teachers to identify a standout student who has shown exceptional progress in their academics.
As a reward for their hard work and dedication, the selected student will receive a brand-new pair of Air Jordans (J’s), purchased personally by School Board Member Dr. Phelton Moss. This initiative highlights the value of persistence and effort in education, motivating students to strive for academic success while promoting a sense of pride and accomplishment in their schools.
J's for Grades is more than just a reward system—it's a celebration of growth, a recognition of resilience, and a commitment to fostering a culture of achievement across our district. Stay tuned as we visit a new school each month and honor the extraordinary efforts of our students!
Ties for Guys 2025: Empowering Young Men for Success
Ties for Guys 2025 is a transformative program designed to prepare graduating seniors at Wise Junior High School and Suitland High School for their next chapter with confidence and style. Sponsored by School Board Member Dr. Phelton Moss, this initiative ensures that every senior graduates with a classic necktie, symbolizing professionalism and the importance of dressing for success.
The highlight of the program is the Neck-Tie Ceremony, where distinguished men from the community will present ties to the young men and teach them the timeless skill of tying a necktie. In addition to mastering this essential technique, students will engage in meaningful conversations about the value of presentation, self-respect, and how to make a positive impression in professional and personal settings.
Ties for Guys 2025 is not just about attire; it’s about equipping young men with tools, knowledge, and inspiration to step into their futures with confidence and a sense of purpose. Together, we’re fostering a legacy of excellence and empowerment for the next generation of leaders.
